There’s a difference between believing the Gospel and allowing it to change the way we actually live. In 1 Corinthians 1, Paul confronts division by reminding us who we are, what divides us, and who we ultimately belong to. Our preferences can become idols when they receive the allegiance that belongs to Jesus. But the cross reminds us that we don’t come to Jesus because we’re all the same—we come because we all need the same Savior. The hardest prayer may be the simplest: “Jesus, You can tell me I’m wrong.”
